Who Are you? Chantell Block

Age: 38.

Employer: Family Farm.

Occupation: Farmer.

What do you like most about your job? My favourite part of being a farmer is working with the animals. We have cattle and horses, and every single one of them has a place in our hearts.

How long have you worked there? I married a farmer 10 years ago and have helped on the farm off and on in this time. About six months ago I decided I wanted to work full time at the farm, and don’t regret my decision at all.

What was your very first job? I had a newspaper route when I was about 14 years old.

How long have you worked in the Valley? I moved here 10 years ago and have worked here ever since.

Where are you from? Calgary.

What do you like to do while on vacation? Take the boat out on the lake and spend the whole day on the water.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why? England or Scotland. There is a lot of history that I would love to explore.

If you could travel through time, when and where would you go? Ancient Rome.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring three things what would they be?
1. My husband. 2. Cell phone so we could call for help. 3. Rum to help pass the time until help arrived.

Who has the biggest influence on your life? My mother. Every major event in my life she was present for, she was always the first person I went to for advice.

Favorite movie? Men in Black.

If your life had a theme song what would it be? It’s a great day to be alive by Travis Tritt.

Favorite book? City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong.

Favorite food? Anything with chocolate.

Ski or snowboard? Neither.

Favorite winter outdoor activity? Sledding.

Favorite season? Spring.

If you had to go without one of these two things what would you give up, cell phone or microwave oven and why?
Microwave, I’m very comfortable reheating my food on the stove or in an oven.

Live each day to the fullest.

What do you like most about your job? Teaching children how to read & how the kids make me smile each day.

What was your very first job? Lifeguard.

How long have you worked in the Valley? 8 years.

Where are you from? Montmartre, Saskatchewan.

What do you like to do while on vacation? Camp with my family.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Across Canada – we have such a beautiful & diverse country I would love to see it.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring three things what would they be?
A book, a lighter and my husband (together we’d find a way off the island).

Who has the biggest influence on your life? My children – they have given me perspective.

Favorite movie? 50 First Dates or Collateral Beauty.

If your life had a theme song what would it be? God Bless the Broken Road.

Favorite book? There are so many, I can’t decide.

Favorite food? Tacos.

Ski or snowboard? Ski.

Favorite winter activity? Curling.

If you had to go without one of these two things what would you give up, cell phone or microwave oven and why?
Cell phone because I can never find it anyway and I have three kids so living without a microwave would be challenging.

Any words of wisdom that you live by or like to share?
We all make a difference to those around us, it is up to us whether our impact is positive or negative.

If you had to be in a reality T.V. show, which would you choose? Survivor.

If you had to lie, what job would you say you did? Professional curler.

If you could go back and give your teenager self advice, what would it be?
Remember that actions speak louder than words. Look for the people around you who show their love and friendship through their actions.

If you could speak to everyone in the world at the same time, what would you say?
Be kind to each and every person you see today.

If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would it be and why?
Miss Frizzle and her magic school bus because her field trips are the greatest.

What do you like most about your job? Making a difference in the lives of children.
What was your very first job? Post Office Clerk.
How long have you worked in the Valley? 5 months
Where are you from? Brampton, Ontario.
What do you like to do while on vacation? Sight-see and try new food.
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Italy because I’ve always been obsessed with Michelangelo’s artwork in the Sistine Chapel.
If you could travel through time, when and where would you go? The early 1500’s to watch Michelangelo paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could bring three things what would they be? 1. A boat; 2. A life-jacket; 3. Fishing rod.
Who has the biggest influence on your life? My parents.
Favorite movie? The Princess Bride.
If your life had a theme song what would it be? The theme song from the TV show Friends.
Favorite book? The entire Harry Potter series.
Favorite food? Anything Japanese.

Microwave oven because I prefer a slow cooker anyways.

Don’t be afraid to go after what you want.

If you had to lie, what job would you say you did? Stunt double.
Which film do you wish you were the main character in and why? Cheaper By The Dozen because I think it would fun to have such a big family.
