Construction fire at DCHS

fire.jpg

For the second time in less than a month, the Drumheller Fire Department was called out to a fire at the DCHS School under construction in East Drumheller. On Thursday, January 7, shortly before 4 p.m. the department was dispatched. Apparently the fire was similarly caused by the heat of a welder working on the roof of the school. The blaze was quickly extinguished. Badlands EMS also responded to the call, but it appears there were no injuries.

Police are looking for assistance to help solve a number of brazen robberies in the McConkey Park area, and are warning residents to be vigilant with their personal safety walking at night.
The most recent event happened to a lone female on New Year’s Day.
In the early hours of January 1, 2010 a lone female was walking on 3rd Avenue West near McConkey Park.
She was attacked by a group of approximately six unknown individuals. The attackers took her money and other items of value.
They left her with several injuries prior to fleeing from the area.
In the past few months police report there have been three similar incidents that have occurred in the same area.
Drumheller RCMP are requesting that persons walking in this area at night be cautious, and report any suspicious actions.
Police ask that if anyone has  information on these matters are asked to call the Drumheller RCMP detachment at 403-823-7590.

Drumheller's New Year's baby arrives

new-year-baby.jpg

Our New Year’s baby made everyone wait, even mom and dad, Robyn and Mark Mears, as their baby was expected on December 29!
Induced on Monday morning, Kyla made her appearance on Tuesday, January 5 at about 8:20 p.m., at the Drumheller Regional Health Centre and was delivered by Dr Jeff Chung, weighing in at nine pounds seven ounces.  All three are doing great.
Kyla has two sisters, Lexy, 7 and Brooke, 5 who were eagerly waiting to meet her at home in Hanna and since the couple and their new bundle of joy were discharged on Wednesday, they didn’t have to wait too much longer!
