Man killed in Highway 9 and 21 collision


 
On July 14th, 2012 at 5:45 P.M., Beiseker RCMP attended a two vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 9 and 21. Upon arrival police were advised that one adult male of Airdrie, Alberta was pronounced deceased. Additionally one adult female of Iron Springs, Alberta was transported by STARS air ambulance in critical condition. Her husband and three children were transported by ambulance to a hospital in Strathmore. Police are withholding names out of respect for the family and until next of kin notifications can be completed. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor but speed is. The collision occurred at a controlled intersection. The RCMP collision reconstructions attended the location and police are conducting an ongoing investigation.
 
Multiple witness and other motorists stopped and provided invaluable assistance to all parties and police would like to thank them for their assistance in providing initial first aid.

Highway 56 accident ends in tragedy

 The Drumheller RCMP and the Alberta Medical Examiner Office Calgary are investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident. Late in the evening of July 12 on Highway 56 south of Drumheller, a southbound SUV ran off the road and rolled. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. The driver, a 41 year old female, died as a result.

  It was believed she was not wearing her seatbelt. No other vehicles were involved.

None seriously hurt in Highway 9 collison

   No one was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck on Highway 9 South. At roughly 2:30 p.m. on July 13, Drumheller RCMP and Badlands EMS responded to the collision and RCMP investigated.

  Prior to the collision, both vehicles were travelling eastbound on South Railway Avenue, with the truck in the rear. Both vehicles turned right onto Highway 9 South. The motorcycle came to a stop as it negotiated the turn and was struck from behind by the truck at a low speed.

  The male driver of the motorcycle sustained undetermind, non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the Drumheller Health Centre. The male driver of the truck was uninjured. Neither vehicle had passengers. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

  Drumheller RCMP are continuing their investigation and charges are pending against the driver of the pickup truck.
