Reel Alternative presents Mao’s Last Dancer

This Monday, movie buffs will be treated to the critically acclaimed Mao’s Last Dancer as Reel Alternative’s October offering.     Mao’s Last Dancer tells the true story of Li Cunxin, the child of an impoverished provincial family in China chosen by Madam Mao to become a ballet dancer. He leaves his remote village and one room school house behind and enters a world of stringent artistic and ideological training, which culminates in an opportunity to be one of the first Chinese exchange students in America.
Li travels to Houston Texas to study ballet, and his life is drastically changed, forever.
Mao’s Last Dancer screens at the Napier Theatre Monday October 25 at  7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $8 for library members, $9 for non-members, and are available at the Drumheller Public Library and at the door.
The Drumheller Public Library Society, The Napier Theatre, and The Film Circuit, a division of the Toronto International Film Festival, sponsor the Reel Alternative.
