Car window smashing leads to probation for Drumheller man

A young Drumheller man was given probation and a hefty order to pay for damages he inflicted to another man’s car.

Dustin John Boon, 19, pleaded guilty to one count of mischief in provincial court in Drumheller on June 12.

The incident occurred on October 29, 2008. The accused and the victim were known to each other. Boon was under the influence of alcohol, and an altercation took place. Boon then took a signpost and smashed virtually every piece of glass in the victim’s T-top Camaro, and also caused damage to the body of the car. An estimate of the damage came in at $5,750.

The owner of the car has made efforts to repair the vehicle.

Boon was sentenced to one-year probation, with the mandatory conditions, as well as to partake in alcohol or anger management counseling as ordered by probation. There was also a judgment to reimburse the victim for the amount of $5,750.
