Tenders close for new Catholic school

The period for submitting tenders for St. Anthony’s School in Drumheller has ended, and the school division is hopeful they will be making the announcement for a contractor in December.
According to Christ The Redeemer School Division superintendent, Michael O’Brien, the tendering process wrapped up last week, and now the board has submissions to mull over.

Earlier this fall, Drumheller Town Council paved the way for the construction of the new school along North Dinosaur Trail.
“Things look good,” said Drumheller area trustee Paul Andrew. He says there are about six tenders submitted.
He says the division will consider the bids, and then seek approval from Alberta Infrastructure to hire a contractor.
“We are hoping by Christmas we’ll have some kind of announcement,” said Andrew.
They estimate there will be 16-18 months of work after they hire a contractor, before completion of the school.
"I'm still hoping we'll  be able to have this open in September of 2010," said Andrew.
A development permit has been applied for from the Town of Drumheller.
