Dynos win provincial silver

dynos.jpgThe DCHS senior boys basketball team have done one better than last season and have come home with provincial silver. The Dynos were at the provincial tournament in Picture Butte over the weekend. The team came home with a second place finish, right behind the tournament hosts, the Sugar Kings. “The guys saved their best basketball for the last time of the year,” said head coach Jeff Messom. We played the style of basketball we have been wanting to play, intense, aggressive in your face. I was told one of the college scouts mentioned that it would be the fire power of Picture Butte versus the intensity of Drumheller in the final.”

Drumheller hockey season far from over

minor-hockey.jpgThe hockey season is now at the half way mark for Drumheller Minor Hockey, but several of the valley’s teams are holding strong in the standings.
Drumhellers Novice Tier 2 team is currently sitting in a tie for first in the Central Alberta Hockey League, with seven wins and only one loss.
On January 4, the Novices played in Brooks, taking home an 8-4 win. Tyler Cardamone opened the scoring for Drumheller and continued on to score a hat trick, and then one more late in the third to give Brooks a 4 point deficit.
Drumheller’s Peewee Tier 2 Greene Construction Raptors have strong numbers with six wins and two ties as of their last game in Airdrie on January 4. The Raptors beat out Airdrie with an overwhelming tally of 13-2, following a 5-5 tie against Carstairs the evening before.

Once a Titan now a Golden Bear

cam-pasula.jpgAlthough one of the shortest players on the University of Alberta’s Golden Bears, Cameron Pasula is 5”7’ and 197 lbs. of pure excellence.
Pasula left Drumheller in the fall of 2008 to pursue a degree in Engineering at U of A, qualifying to red-shirt (practicing) as a fullback with the university’s Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) ranked football team.
