Drumheller referee moving up ranks

tyler-jensen.jpg    A young Drumheller man is moving up the ranks of hockey refereeing, after attending a high caliber training camp this summer.
Tyler Jensen, 19, began officiating hockey when he was playing Minor Hockey at the bantam level. His father Mike was officiating at the time and Tyler became interested. In just six years of officiating, his resume continues to grow and get stronger.
From July 14 to 19, he was in Camrose to attend the Hockey Alberta Official’s Development Camp. There he received professional instruction on how to properly officiate.

Dragons camp coming up August 21-23

The Drumheller Dragons main camp is coming up in less than two weeks and the Dragons’ organization has invited 80 players to skate and be seen.
The camp is at Drumheller Memorial Arena on August 21-23. Coach Dan Price says 80 skaters; four teams of 20, is a manageable size. He says it is not indicative of how many spots sill need to be filled. He says a smaller camp often only allows the coaches to look at older players.
“The beauty is that this will allow us to assess younger players. It opens the door to 16-17 year olds, and see where they are at,” said Price.
