Kathryn Moncks, with her partner, Raynell Lavertu, who are also teammates at the University of Calgary, were undefeated all week at the games in Prince Edward Island. Their dominance came to an end in the final as the British Columbia team won two straight sets 21-16, 21-16. The team of Moncks/Lavertu has played together for three years.

Drumheller referee moving up ranks

tyler-jensen.jpg    A young Drumheller man is moving up the ranks of hockey refereeing, after attending a high caliber training camp this summer.
Tyler Jensen, 19, began officiating hockey when he was playing Minor Hockey at the bantam level. His father Mike was officiating at the time and Tyler became interested. In just six years of officiating, his resume continues to grow and get stronger.
From July 14 to 19, he was in Camrose to attend the Hockey Alberta Official’s Development Camp. There he received professional instruction on how to properly officiate.
