The Hi-Way 9 Peewee Tier 6 Raptors wrapped up the season this past weekend.
In the final round the Raptors faced off against Brooks. Due to weather and tournament commitments the Raptors went to Brooks mid week to begin the series. The Raptors walked away with a 5 – 2 victory Wednesday night.
Brooks would then travel to Drumheller on Saturday to try and even the series up. Both teams came out hard for this game. After the 1st period the score was tied at 1. Both teams had battled hard through the 2nd period but at the end the Raptors were up 3-2. The 3rd period was intense with Brooks trying to tie the series up to send it back to Brooks Sunday morning, while the Raptors were trying to finish off the series and win the banner at home.
Brooks tied the game up late in the 3rd period to send the game into overtime. With just over 2 minutes left in the OT frame Brooks scored to tie the series and force a game three Sunday morning in Brooks.
The Raptors then travelled to Brooks for Sunday’s game. Due to the weather reports over half of the team travelled to Brooks on Saturday afternoon. The Raptors came out flying in this game. They never let off the gas once.
After the 1st period the Raptors were ahead 4-0, then after the 2nd period the score was 7-2.
You could tell the Raptors were not happy with the outcome of the game on Saturday and wanted to put this game away early. The Raptors pushed on in the 3rd period with much of the play being in Brooks end, not giving them any chances to score.
The final score for the game was 10-3, with this win the HiWay 9 Peewee Tier 6 Raptors became the 2010 -2011 League Champions. Congratulations to the Peewee T6 Raptors for a hard fought season and all the coaches for a job well done.
