JENSEN
Janice Marie

April 17, 1949 - March 17, 2021

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janice Marie Jensen on March 17, 2021 at Drumheller Hospital at age 71.
Janice is survived by Jackie Jensen, her husband of 47 years; her son, Chris (Jennifer) Jensen and their children Lauren, Daniel, Morgan and Graham; her daughter Evie (Chad) Willox and their children Anna, Leland and Tanner; and her daughter Elaina (Curtis) Geeraert and their children Samuel and Grace. Janice is also survived by her brother-in -law Dallas (Sandy) Jensen, sister-in-law Ellen-Ann (Jay) Jordan, sister-in-law Charlotte Wilson (Greg), “sister-cousin” Sharon (Mervin) McCallum, and many dear friends.
Janice is pre-deceased by her parents Allan and Evelyn Shoebotham, and her mother and father-in-law Elmer and Leona Jensen.
Janice Marie Jensen was born April 17, 1949 in Calgary, AB to Allan and Evelyn Shoebotham and started her life on an acreage outside Calgary. She lost her mother at a young age, but was very close with her cousins living nearby, who became like sisters to her. Before starting junior high, Janice and her Dad moved to Airdrie where she became good friends with a group of girls with whom she has remained connected throughout her life.
Janice married Jackie June 9, 1973 and they partnered together in building up their family farm and raising their three kids. She was a fantastic mom who didn’t sweat the small stuff and supported her kids in living their own potential. Janice had a warm and infectious smile that will be remembered by all who knew her. She made time to welcome anyone who stopped in to visit and was known in the community as a loving and kind friend to many women. Janice was a woman of faith who lived her life with humility and kindness. She was always willing to help in the community and loved spending time with her grandkids. She enjoyed gardening and quilting and was happy to fill the last few years of her life travelling with Jackie and friends.
A private service will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Standard Nazareth Lutheran Church. If so desired, donations can be made directly to Standard Community
Facility Enhancement Society in care of the Village of Standard (Memory Lane) or Standard Nazareth Lutheran Church.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Foothills Hospital and Drumheller Hospital. We would like to thank our community for their never-ending support.

TRENTHAM
Marilyn Jean
(nee Kaechele)

August 26, 1950 - February 28, 2021

It is with sadness in our hearts that we share news of Marilyn’s passing on Sunday, February 28th, 2021 after a long, hard-fought battle with Huntington’s Disease.
Marilyn Jean Kaechele was the eldest of 2 daughters born to George & Jean Kaechele. Marilyn and her sister Edi grew up on the family farm just east of Three Hills. She is predeceased by both parents, Jean in 1987 and George in 2010.
Marilyn married Gary Trentham in 1969 and moved to Drumheller. Early on, she worked for a local Credit Union, then Alberta Power in Drum before starting her own
successful bookkeeping business, which she operated until the effects of Huntington’s made it impossible to carry on.
Marilyn was a well-liked member of the community known for her love of cooking and her enviable ability to play piano by ear. She was a fun-loving, good-natured wife, friend, and sister who enjoyed a good joke, camping, quadding, and her beloved Corgie dogs.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Staff at Drumheller Hospital Continuing Care, where Marilyn resided for the past number of years, for their
tremendously compassionate care. And to the Helping Hands “girls” who brought her joy and companionship.
Should you wish, donations in Marilyn’s memory can be made to The Huntington Society of Canada online at www.huntingtonsociety.ca or by mail: 801, 20 Erb Street West, Waterloo Ontario N2L 1T2

Condolences to the family of Shirley Delores Buyer

BUYER
Shirley Delores

November 9, 1941 - February 24, 2021

Shirley Delores Buyer went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ February 24, 2021.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Morley, her parents and her siblings.
She leaves to mourn her children, Candace and Randy Stripling, Cameron and Tracy Buyer, her grandchildren, Tanner and Chilla Stripling, Jenna and Pablo Herrera, Eric and Kaylee Buyer, Tyson and Ashley Buyer and her great grandchildren, Gabriel and Ryan Stripling, Brynlee and Jayla Buyer, her close sister-in-law and companion, Nova Ohlhauser, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Shirley will also be missed by an abundance of friends and acquaintances.
Shirley was born November 9, 1941 in Carbon, Alberta and Carbon was her town for her entire life.
She married Morley in 1960 and their marriage was blessed with their two children. She and Morley operated their farm and had various businesses together, the last being the Good “N” Plenty Restaurant and Catering.
Shirley was a very talented pianist and shared her talent not only as a music teacher to many but also as the church and community pianist and organist most of her life. In 1978 Shirley joined the staff at Carbon School as office secretary but all know she fulfilled many roles in the school until her retirement in 2006. Shirley loved her town and church and felt called to serve within both. She served on Carbon town council as a councillor and mayor from 1995 to 2013 and as a School Board Trustee. Shirley also served in numerous roles in her church right until her death. Many will remember her music, reciting Bible verses to her or being hosted in her home for a youth or ladies’ event. One of the greatest highlights in her life was becoming GG to her great grandchildren and was blessed to enjoy her time with each of them. During her last 5 years, Shirley resided at the Parkview Lodge in Carbon and formed some very special friendships. Her door was always open for coffee, fresh baking and friendship.
She was definitely referred to as an “angel” by many and was always there for anyone who needed her. Her life had a positive impact on all those who knew her and she will be missed by everyone. Her last wish was that the legacy she laid down for us to continue on.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the
Carbon Community Church.
Courtney Winters Funeral Home in care of arrangements 403-823-2666.
