Gordon Wilfred

July 8, 1937 – January 11, 2019

Gordon Wilfred Johnson, formerly of Eckville, Alberta, passed away peacefully with family at his side at the South Health Campus in Calgary on January 11, 2019 at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his “girls”, JoAnn (Lawson) White and Brenda Johnson; grandchildren, Curtis and Jillian White; special friend, Gayle English; brother, Larry (Elaine) Johnson; sisters, Marion (Leonard) Olsen and Anne Holzli; brother in law, Don and sister in law, Margaret as well as his extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Erella; brothers, Art and Terry, and sister, Doreen. He was born in Drumheller on July 8, 1937 and raised on the family farm west of Morrin. Upon leaving school, he farmed, built bridges and later became a heavy equipment operator retiring in 2003. He resided in the Eckville area for over thirty years. Gordon was very proud of his Norwegian roots. Godt å få hvile når kreftene svikter, trett etter årenes arbeid og slit. Trygt i den evige hvile få sove. Ha takk fra oss alle og hvil nå i fred. (Good to rest when the forces fail, tired after years of work and wear. Sleep safely in eternal rest. Thank you all and rest now in peace.) In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to “The Brenda Strafford Foundation” directed to Seniors Care, 4628 Montgomery Blvd NW, Calgary, AB T3B 0K7. Gordon’s family would like to thank Heritage House (Stettler Hospital), Tudor Manor (Okotoks), Dr. Steed and his staff for their wonderful care. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.
