Mayor Heather Colberg opened the Committee of the Whole Meeting by declaring September 15 to 21 National Royal Canadian Legion Week in Drumheller. The Legion will be hosting a beef on a bun celebration on Saturday, September 21 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with live entertainment.
Mayor Colberg also read a Letter from Alberta Transportation regarding the Gordon Taylor Bridge. Effective September 16, a temporary lane reduction will be implemented on the Gordon Taylor Bridge from 4.5 metres to 4 metres to accommodate the concrete deck machine in preparation for nighttime cement pours for the bridge deck.

Chair of the Drumheller Public Library Samanatha Haddon Presented to Town council. The Library has seen a 20 percent increase in entrances over 2022 and an increase in computer and wifi use. In 2023 it celebrated its centennial, which included launching Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and 124 children have registered. In 2023 it was nominated for a Drumhller and Disitict Chamber of Commerce Community Builder Award. Looking forward they are in the process of appointing a new Director of Library Services and have updated is Plan of Service for 2024-2026.

CAO Darryl Drohomerski announced that Antonia Strilisky has been appointed as the Development Officer for the Town of Drumheller. She has worked towards her designation as the Town’s Development Officer over the last three years through a combination of completion of the Applied Land Use Planning Certificate at the University of Alberta and through approximately three years of work experience as the Development Officer in Training.
