Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills Member of the Legislative Assembly Richard Marz announced Thursday his retirement from politics and will not be seeking re-election in the next provincial election.

After 30 years of public service, 16 in municipal and 14 in provincial politics, Marz announced his retirement now to “provide ample time for anyone who wishes to seek nomination, and to use the summer events to get out and meet” constituents.
“Your support and prayers are very much appreciated,” wrote Marz in a press release. “Because of you, our organization is stronger in all aspects than it has ever been.”
Marz says the next provincial election will take place as soon as the spring of next year.
“My wife Jan and I look forward to seeing many of you over the summer months,” he wrote.
Richard Marz was elected to his fourth term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly on March 3, 2008. Mr. Marz was born in Three Hills, Alberta, on April 30, 1944. He worked in the oil patch prior to joining the Calgary police force in 1969.
