RCMP caution against insecure loads after rock smashes windshield

20181105 114304

Hanna RCMP are warning drivers to ensure their loads are secure after a rock smashed out the windshield of a vehicle recently.

The detachment says they have received increased amount of complaints regarding insecure loads on commercial vehicles, particularly gravel trucks or flat decks. They say it is the driver’s responsibility to ensure no debris falls of their vehicle. A ticket for insecure loads can carry a cost of up to $776.

Motorists that encounter a vehicle that loses debris can contact the Hanna RCMP at (403)854-3391.  Provide as much detail as possible including date, time, suspect vehicle description and plate if possible.  If it is safe to do so (multiple people in the vehicle) video and photographs will provide valuable evidence and be used as part of the investigation.  Charges will be laid where the evidence supports.
