Dynos qualify or provincials, win silver at zones

The DVSS Dynos are provincial tournament bound after winning silver at the zone competition in Didsbury last weekend.

The Dynos march into March Madness continues. After winning the league championship last week over Acme, they were at the South Central 2A zone tournament over the weekend.
The Dynos matched up against Holy Cross Collegiate on Friday in the first round of the tournament. They disposed of the Strathmore team and then went on to grind it out versus St. Joseph’s Collegiate of Brooks. The Dynos won both games by about 20 points.
This left them to play for the zone championship against the host school Didsbury, the second place ranked team in the province.
Coach Jeff Messom said the team came out sluggish, and Didsbury shot the lights out, pulling away with a 20-point lead.
The Dynos fought back but were not able to close the gap. Didsbury hit its stride working the ball inside and outside, and won 70-50.
The Dynos are on their way back to Didsbury this week to play in the provincial tournament.
