Dynos improve winning record

The junior high DCHS Dynos boys volleyball team have now cruised to a 5-2 league record after beating the Three Hills Royals in all five games last Tuesday.
The Three Hills Royals came to Drumheller for a league match on October 12. The Dynos were in control from the beginning, winning their first match 25-23, and never looked back.     It has been a strong season for the Dynos, even though they never had a team last season. Two years ago, when the majority of players were in Grade 7 they played together. While they lost a couple players, now in Grade 9, they have one Grade 7 player on the squad, as well as one new player who transferred from St. Anthony’s, rounding their numbers to nine.
“They are all really good to coach, the majority are good athletes,” said coach Audrey DeBona. “They love playing volleyball.”
They are learning quickly. She introduced the 6-2 system, and they have won their five matches since, even though they haven’t been able to get in much practice time.
A short bench of only nine players can pose some scheduling work, especially when a few of them play hockey as well. She is hoping now that the team is back on the court, she hopes it will spawn more interest and more players will come out to play.
The team has also played in a tournament in Olds, and are planning to play in a tournament in Morrin this coming weekend. Zones are on the weekend of November 20 at Rundle College. The league playoffs are during the week proceeding zones.
