Atom T3 Yavis Raptors slide into playoffs

It was a two game weekend for the Raptors as they needed a few points to secure their playoff appearance.
Strathmore was in town Saturday and play was underway as Strathmore took it to the Raptors early as they found themselves down 2-0.
The Raptors re-grouped as the Nathanator took charge and buried two goals to keep Drumheller in the game. The kids were not giving up and showed determination as they have through many periods this season.

Kevin “Knuckles” Schrock jumped on a loose puck in the crease and slid it in with 32 seconds left in the period to finish the 1st period down 4-3.
The Raptors found themselves short handed in the second period as the penalty box was full. Special teams held their own and even netted 1 goal thanks to Tyler “Top Shelf” Cardamone as he went untouched and kept  them in the game down 5-4 after the 2nd. The Big E Westman and the mighty defense were able to shut down the opposition in the 3rd and the Raptors scored the tying goal to capture one point in the standings.
Okotoks B were the visitors in the Dragons Den on Sunday. The Raptors were fortunate to have guest MC ‘Voice of the Dragons’ Jason Blanke to call the game. The kids were pumped!
The Raptors were off to a flying start as Zach Attack Suntjens blasted a shot from the point that eluded the Okotoks goalie. The kids were into it as the Snowman and the Cruncher were in on a few goals to keep the Raptors ahead.
The Sniper and Jumpin Jake had strong games as they were tough along the boards creating offensive chances.
The score was tied at 4 after three periods. Great back checking efforts from the Big D of Wild Bill, The Tank, Hard Knox Hummel and Zack Attack. With just seven minutes left in the 3rd the Okotoks player broke away down the left side on a two on one and picked the corner to give the opposition a 5-4 lead to seal the deal.
The Raptors played hard throughout and now rest up for their play off run next weekend. They finished off the league at 7-10-3. Good for seventh place.
Good luck in the playoffs Raptors! Scoring this weekend: Nathanator 2G 2A; Top Shelf 2G 2A; Knuckles 2G 1A; Hard Knox 3A; Snowman 1G 1A; Zack Atack 1G 1A; Cruncher 1G 1A; Jumpin’ Jake 1A; Heartbreaker 1A; The Tank 1A.
