Room To Read raised $3,500

room-to-read.jpgAbove are the winners of the Room to Read Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 26 at Dinosaur Trail Golf and Country Club, (l-r) Tom Zariski, Daryl Danchek, Peter Glossop and Barry Fullerton.  A small but enthusiastic group of golfers, along with great community support, raised over $3.500 for the Drumheller Appeal.  Proceeds will go toward helping to build a school in Sri Lanka.
Room to Read is getting closer to make some room to read for students in Sri Lanka.
The local initiative to build a school and library on the island country off the coast of India is approaching its goal. They have topped the $10,000 mark on their way to their target of $35,000, the latest funds coming from its successful golf tournament last Saturday.
“It was encouraging,” said one of the local Room To Read organizers Peter Glossop, “and we are continuing to receive private donations as well.”
The golf tournament alone raised $3,500 as local duffers took to Dinosaur Trail Golf and Country Club on Saturday, September 26.
“We’re very happy with the outcome,” said Glossop.
Glossop says they are gearing up for their next fundraiser. The committee has in kind donations from local artists to support the cause, and is planning to have the works displayed throughout the valley in businesses and institutions as part of their next fundraiser.
