Lacrosse action heats up over weekend

lacrosse.jpgThe Drumheller Lacrosse teams had another fast paced weekend after enjoying the long weekend break.
First the Midget Raptors took on Red Deer M2 in Drumheller on Thursday, May 21.  The boys ended up losing the game 8-2 but saw plenty of action on the floor.
Saturday afternoon saw the Bantam team enjoying a more even match-up with Lacoka B1, managing to keep the score tied up for most of the game.
With only eight runners, these boys ran out of steam and ended up losing 12-9 in the end.
The Pee-wee team also had a game against Lacoka and managed to edge by the Loco’s with a score of 5-3, putting on a gripping show for the hometown crowd.

The Drumheller Arena was full of excitement again on Sunday morning as the Midget team took on Didsbury.  After a hard fought battle, our Midget boys ended the game with a 5-5 tie.
Then the Pee-wee team hit the floor against Didsbury.  After some fast paced action and many scoring chances by both teams the Drumheller team came away with a win.
The Novice team faced Red Deer N1 and despite their best efforts, the team was defeated by Red Deer 10-4.  Playing their second game of the day, the Midgets again hit the floor to play against Red Deer M1 where they managed to end the game in a 4-4 tie.
This year’s Tyke team is working mainly on skill development but enjoyed hosting Strathmore for a fun game at the end of the day on Sunday.
All in all, Drumheller hosted eight teams of children ages four to 16 this past weekend.
Next home games will be held on Sunday, June 7 at 1:00 pm where both the Novice team and the Bantams host Innisfail at 1:00 pm and 2:15 pm.
The last League games of the season will be held in Drumheller with all four of our teams playing on Saturday, June 13 starting at 12:00 noon and the Bantams playing again on Sunday, June 14 at 3:00 pm.
There are no practices at the Arena this week due to Grad, but next Tuesday and Thursday will be regular times for the Novice, Midget, Pee-wee and Bantam teams.  Wednesday evenings, the Tyke and Mini-Tyke teams take to the floor.
