Dragons win three straight

The Dragons are having a strong start to the season, rattling off three straight wins and going 4-1.
The Dragons were in Blackfalds on Tuesday, September 19, to take on the Bulldogs. The Dragons’ offence couldn’t be contained as they outshot the Bulldogs 50-29. Adam Raesler opened the scoring a minute and a half in, and was followed up by Austin Osiowy 21 seconds later.
The Bulldogs added two in the first period, but Easton Adrian answered back, followed by Raesler adding his second. Vann Yuhas added one more, and the Dragons led 5-2 after one.
The scoring didn’t end there, Jamie Hikida and Aiden LaRose put the Dragons up 7-2 after two periods.
Blackfalds scored one more early in the third period, but Yuhas added his second of the game, and Jacob Goudreau scored his second of the season as the Dragons went on to a 9-3 win.
On Friday, September 22, the Dragons hosted the Whitecourt Wolverines in their home opener. Yuhas opened the scoring three and a half minutes in, and Connor Poffenroth scored two in a row. Whitecourt added on to make it 3-1 after the first period. After a scoreless second period, Raesler scored his fifth of the season with a minute left, as the Dragons went on to a 4-1 win.
On Saturday, September 23, the Dragons hosted the Sherwood Park Crusaders in front of 577 fans. The Crusaders got the jump on the Dragons and led 2-0 after one period. The Dragons tied it up by the end of the second with Coy Pighin and Kai Matthew finding the net.
Sherwood Park never relented and by the 4:40 mark, of the third period were up 4-2. The Dragons turned it on with Luke McPhee starting the streak. The Dragons’ powerplay began firing as Yuhas, Goudreau and McPhee each scored in the last half of the third to take the 6-4 win.
On Thursday, September 28, the Dragons are hosting the Wolverines, and on Saturday, September 30, they are back on the road to take on the Spruce Grove Saints. On Tuesday, October 3 they are back home to play the Okotoks Oilers.
