Bantam Titans outlast Notre Dame for 2-0 record

The Bantam Titans are having their best start ever to the season, and are 2-0 after a big win over Notre Dame.

The Bantams hosted the tough and relatively large Red Deer School at DVSS last Saturday morning. It was a high scoring affair as the Titans and Notre Dame marched neck and neck, but the Titans finished on top 48-44.
“This was huge. We have had two wins in a season, but we have never started 2-0,” said coach Paul Redmond.
Redmond was happy with the victory and was impressed with the offensive output.  He said offense is the key at this level.
“It is the way in this league, it is an offensively oriented game,” said Redmond.
Having said that, down to the wire, the Titans were able to stop a late game drive by the Red Deer team to secure the win.
He said Notre Dame has approximately 800 students to draw upon for their team, but what made the difference for the Titans was experience. Returning players that have a feel for the game has bolstered the Titans.
While he is happy with the offensive output; the Titans have scored 98 points in two games, he would like to see them work on better defense,
“Stopping the sweep is number one,” said Redmond.
He said nearly every team uses this play, and it is difficult to defend. By stopping it, the Titans can put the offense back on the field to score.
The Bantam Titans have a bye this week, and will be on the road come Saturday, September 24 to take on Wetaskiwin.
