The Drumheller Peewee Royals girls softball team will be competing in the top division of the Calgary Minor Softball Association playoffs on Thursday until Sunday this week.

The team, which currently sits fourth after being bumped up to Division 1 of the competitive league, has been playing strong in the Calgary league with a season total record of 12-5-1. They lost their last game on June 16 13-10 to a Strathmore team.
“It’s going to be real tight,” says Royals manager Melissa Janzen. “The games we’ve played so far, it’s not a shoe in for anybody. It’s going to prepare us for provincials as well.”
The team never lost a game when they played in Division 2 of the Calgary league, but since being moved to the top Division 1, the team has faced some more fair competition.
“We’re up against the same level, so it’s exciting and good ball,” says Janzen.
