July 22, 1930 - December 1, 2021

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of our family patriarch, Michael Mathew Michalevich, at the Drumheller hospital on December 1st, 2021 at the age of 91 years, 4 months, 9 days.
Michael was born in Roblin, Manitoba to Michael and Annie Michalevich and was one of ten children.
On November 30th, 1955, sixty-six years ago, Michael was united in marriage to Lucille Pshyk. To this union, two children were born; son Rick and daughter Donna.
Michael worked many different jobs in several different provinces in Canada. He farmed, worked on the railway, logged in the bush, was a salesperson, a house and commercial painter, worked in the oilfield, and more. He loved working for his son Rick in the oilfield prior to retiring at the age of 77. He enjoyed gardening on the acreage in Rumsey, cutting the grass with the ride-on mower, and looking after the shop. He was also an excellent pool shark; he hardly ever lost a game. He especially treasured spending quality time with his family.
He leaves to mourn his loss; his wife Lucille, his son Rick (Michelle) Michalevich, his daughter Donna (Darrell) Curr, his grandchildren; Terry Michalevich, Christine (Lyn) Michalevich-Herman, Jamie (Danielle) Michalevich, Robin Curr (Melanie), Candace (Chuck) Babuik. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren; Sean Michalevich (Emily), London Herman (step great-grandson), Zachary Montgomery, Alexa and Brittanna Michalevich, Kaedence Ball (step great-granddaughter) and Ethan, Riley, Lily, and Archer Babuik.
He also leaves to mourn, two sisters; Cynthia (Alexander) Anthony and Daria Harder; his brother-in-law Paul Antonuik, sister-in-law Mary Michalevich, and sister-in-law Ollie Elliott and a host of extended family members.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Annie, and his siblings; Love, Vicky, Anne, Edith, Evelyn, Yvonne, and Victor and extended family members.
A very special thank you to Dr. Randolph Brock and all the nurses and staff at the Drumheller hospital for their excellent care and kindness towards our Gido during his end-of-life journey. We sincerely appreciate it.
If anyone so desires, donations may be made to the Drumheller Hospital Palliative Care Unit or to a charity of one’s choice.
As per Michael’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. A family gathering and memorial will be held in 2022. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home of Drumheller in charge of arrangements.

Gido, you are now free from pain.
Rest peacefully and may you soar high in the sky with the angels....... until we meet again.
