Patricia Ann
November 28, 1937 - August 21, 2019
It is with heavy hearts the family of Patricia Ann Symowoniuk announce her passing on Wednesday, August 21 in Red Deer, AB at age 81, with family by her side.
Patty was born in Drumheller, AB and was the daughter of Michael and Jean Boychuk. She attended school in Rosedale and as she grew into a young woman, had many wonderful jobs, the Bank, Bookkeeper for Andreasen Bros. and for the past 40 plus years she was the Post Master of the Rosedale Post Office.
On June 29, 1961 she married Walter Symowoniuk, they resided in Rosedale which is where they raised their 3 sons... Michael, John and Taras.
Patty had many passions in life, her boys were at the top of her list, she loved cooking for them and passed on her favorite recipes to Michael and John. Her vegetable and flower gardens were her pride and joy. She had a love for her ornamental roosters and chickens, they were on display throughout the house, this kept her memory alive of the chicken/pigeon coupe at the old house by the bridge. Her yard and post office would be seasonally decorated for herself and especially for the young children in the community. Her Saturday shopping trips with her sister Shirley were always something she looked forward to ... both looking for the best treasures around town. The bond between these two sisters grew year after year and especially this past year. Patty always said Shirley kept their lives interesting.
Over the years, the community residents became part of the family as she watched family after family, generation after generation grow up in the Rosedale community.....she was loved and respected by so many! She was the Ann Landers of Rosedale... giving all a beautiful smile and advice if they needed. The community is already missing this Angel of a Woman.
Patty will be fondly remembered by her family: Sons John (Tracey & Kyle), Taras (Brandon, Janet, Cassie & Cody) daughter-in-law Tracy Symowoniuk. Sister Shirley Los and her boys, Rocky and Vanda, Rod and Jacqueline, Rick and Neliana, Jason and families.
Patty was predeceased by her son Michael, husband Walter, her parents Michael and Jean Boychuk, as well as her baby brother Michael.
To honour Patty’s wishes a small gathering will be planned in the coming months.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to the Symowoniuk Legacy Park , in memory of Patty and Michael.
