New Town Council sworn in

Drumheller’s Town Council for the next four years was sworn in on Monday, November 4, at Town Hall and then went on to conduct their first public meeting. Drumheller’s Town Council is comprised of (back, l-r) Councillors Tom Zariski, Lisa Hansen-Zacharuk, Patrick Kolafa and Tara McMillan, with (front, l-r) Jay Garbutt, Mayor Terry Yemen, and Councillor Sharel Shoff.


RCMP investigating early morning armed robbery

On November 6, 2013 at approximately 2 am, three masked males entered the Mac's/Husky convenience store located at 175 Railway Ave S in Drumheller.

One of the males pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money from him. In addition to cash, also taken were cigarettes and lottery tickets. All three males were wearing masks and they fled from the store on foot. The clerk was not injured during the robbery. The investigation is continuing.
 
It is suspected that the culprits were waiting around the back of the building or proximity for a period prior to the robbery.

Interact youth club supports Morgan Jayne Project

   The Drumheller Interact Club gave back to the community on Friday, November 1, and their actions will reverberate beyond Drumheller.

   The club presented a $500 donation to the Morgan Jayne Project at the Drumheller Valley Secondary School Library. The money was raised through the club's Pennies for Peace fundraiser, where they collected pennies and other assorted change, and through other volunteer activities. The donation will help children in Roatan, Honduras.

Morgan Jayne Project founder Fred Makowecki accepts a $500 donation from Interact Club members Maria Patterson, Natalie Westman, Madison Colberg, Bailey Kakuk, Megan Rowbottom, Chelsey Botros, and Tracy Kakuk.
