The Drumheller Fire Department rolled out truck number five to Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire parking lots Saturday, October 4, in an effort to raise awareness of Fire Prevention Week, from October 5-11. St. Anthony’s students Keely (left) and Emily Martin, ages 8 and 5 respectively, got behind the wheel of the truck on Saturday morning.
The Drumheller and District Ag Society may soon be the first community in Alberta to firm up its chuckwagon event for next season.
An official from the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) is expected to be in Drumheller today to put the final touches on securing a one-year commitment to have the chuckwagons race in Drumheller next year.
There is no more need for detours whilst driving to Calgary, now that the construction on Highway 9 West has been completed.
Highway 9 used to be in rough shape, riddled with bumps and holes. The stretch from Drumheller to west of where Highway 21 intersects and the stretch east of Highway 21 to Beiseker has been completed by the Alberta Transportation office out of Calgary, with contractor Carmacks Enterprises.
