Laughlin released on $5k bail over manslaughter charges

A Nacmine man accused of manslaughter was released on $5,000 bail and is under requirements to abide to conditions, after a man was found beaten and subsequently taken off life support earlier this month.     Calvin Wade Laughlin, 49, was released from custody on bail and the court requires he: keep on good behavior, report weekly to Drumheller RCMP, remain in Alberta and live at his Nacmine residence, keep curfew between 10:00 p.m. and 5:30 a.m., not possessing or using intoxicating substances, and not possessing a weapon.
Laughlin was charged with manslaughter after another Nacmine resident, Austin Neil McMaster, 55, was found unconscious and beaten in the neighbourhood on May 4. McMaster was taken to a Calgary hospital where he was subsequently taken off life support and succumbed to his injuries.
Laughlin is scheduled to appear at the Drumheller courthouse on June 10.
