Mayor Yemen receives $10,000 raise Monday

    Mayor Terry Yemen has received a near $10,000 pay raise following recommendations from a citizen task force saying the Drumheller mayor’s position was significantly underpaid, council moved unanimously on Monday.

    The Elected Officials Remuneration Task Force, chaired by resident Bob Hannah, found the mayor’s position in Drumheller was on average 25 per cent underpaid compared to other Albertan municipalities of comparable size.
    All members of council supported the recommendation when it was brought to the meeting on Monday.
    The mayor’s position previously paid $24,255 per year, now raised to $35,000.
    The communities which salaries were compared to were Beaumont, Edson, High River, Hinton, Lacombe, Olds, Panoka, Rocky Mountain House, Sylvan Lake, Stettler, and Taber.
