Locally based Canalta has signed on as a diamond sponsor of Hanna’s Regional Community Services Centre and have been granted naming rights for the Canalta Field House.

Dean Viste, fundraising chairperson for the project confirmed that Canalta, owned and operated by the Christianson family, has obtained naming rights for the field house component.
“We were extremely pleased to have the Christianson Family partner with us by becoming a diamond sponsor for the field house. As former residents, they appreciate the community of Hanna and recognize the importance of providing opportunities within the community that will allow all residents an enhanced quality of life. The message is that the family valued their time spent living in Hanna and Hanna is definitely worth investing in - now and for the future,” said Viste.
The Hanna Regional Community Services Centre includes the field house with a gymnasium and track, as well as program areas. Last February the project received $1 million in Federal Recreation Infrastructure Canada funding. It is slated to open this spring.
Canalta relocated to Drumheller from Hanna a number of years ago. It is a development and operations company with interests in real estate, restaurants and hotels. The company owns a stake in the Drumheller Dragons and most recently played a role in bringing Tim Hortons to Drumheller.
While now based in the valley, they maintain a number of ties, both personal and professional, with the community of Hanna.
“The new facility in Hanna is going to be a great asset for the community now and well into the future, and we are very proud to be associated with it,” said Blair Christianson.
According to a press release, sponsorship of the field house represents the largest component within the Regional Community Services Centre. Canalta joins Hi-Way 9 Express, which stepped forward to sponsor the “Hi-Way 9 Pre-school Centre of Excellence” recently. The fundraising committee has committed to raise $800,000 towards the new facility.
“Even in these tough economic times, our committee has been very well received when they have made their presentations for the project. We are thankful for the support that we receive and we are grateful to have partners such as Canalta step forward,” said Viste.
