Tourism Master Plan nears completion

Residents will have a chance this Tuesday to have a look and offer input into the Town of Drumheller’s Tourism Master Plan.     Since June of last year, a stakeholders committee has been working with consultants Malone Given Parsons to develop the Master Plan. As tourism remains a strong economic driver for Drumheller, the plan is intended to provide a community strategic action plan with attainable objectives.
It looks at current tourism infrastructure and the economic realities of the valley, examines trends and creates a working plan to achieve goals for the industry. Some of the areas it focuses on are transportation, policy, marketing, and product/business development and downtown revitalization. Part of the plan is to look at the possibilities of the Badlands Community Facility in regards to the tourism industry.
A stakeholders meeting was held in September of last year, and economic development officer Ray Telford says the plan is nearly complete.
“We are now looking for public input and conversation,” says Telford.
The town will be presenting the Tourism Master Plan on Tuesday, February 8 at 7 p.m. at the Ramada Inn.
