Two local photographers selected for Alberta exhibit

For the second year in a row, two Drumheller photographers have had their works selected by Visual Arts Alberta Association for an installation of Alberta artists.

Ron Kenworthy and Mike Todor each had works selected for the second annual exhibition hosted by the association. It is a juried exhibition, and this years show saw 63 entries selected for the installation, out of 231 images from 55 photographers.
“It is really affirming,” said Kenworthy of the selection. “To be selected one year is great, but for two years, it is nice to be recognized.”
Along with the recognition, Kenworthy says it is a good feeling to be recognized along with another local artist.
“It is nice to be a part if a community, and share in this,” he says.
Like most artists, to thrive commercially there is a need for exposure, and this is one of the values of the exhibition for Todor, for both him as a photographer, and for his gallery.
“It is looking for recognition on a larger stage,” he said.
Todor has operated a gallery called Fine Photography in downtown Drumheller for about a year,  and along  with his selected works he is using the space to promote other Alberta artists as well.
The exhibit will be displayed at the Kassa Lobby in the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium from opening night, July 9, through September 30, 2009.
Kenworthy and Todor are planning to attend the event.
Ron and Michael were also part of the 2008 show where Todor was given Honorable Mention for his Yellow Ladies Slipper.
