Imaginative children solve Picasso’s problem

art-kids.jpgPablo Picasso once said, “all children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” This children’s art class is showing Picasso just how to solve the problem. For two months, this group of aspiring artists have been diligently learning about watercolouring, texturing, and artistic freedom at the Badlands Art Gallery. Gallery member Nancy Mitchell has been teaching young ones how to paint every Sunday, and on their final day of class the kids wanted to show off their pieces, including an underwater painting done as a group. Funding for the program was provided by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and the kids, who are sad to be finished, are looking forward to the possibility of the program starting again next fall.
