Drumheller man charged in road rage incident

On Jan. 5, 2024, at around 8 a.m., a male came into the Beiseker detachment advising that he was just involved in a physical altercation with another male at the Centex gas station and he may have injured him. Officers attended the Centex gas station and located a 80-year-old victim with serious injuries. EMS was called and STARS was utilized to transport the male to hospital where he remains in stable condition. Investigation indicates that the assault was as the result of a road rage incident that occurred on the Highway. After the assault, the suspect broke the victims vehicle window and stole his vehicle keys.

RCMP have charged 56-year-old Drumheller resident Chris Shearer with:
Aggravated assault
Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
Robbery
Mischief

Shearer was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Feb. 1 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie.
