St. Anthony's shine at Cross Country Zones

unnamed

On Wednesday, October 11 St. Anthony’s School sent 16 Junior High Cross-Country runners to the South Central Zone Championships on a wet and cool day in Trochu.
The team trained 2-3 times a week and were bussed to run up and down the hills behind the museum in preparation for the challenging Trochu course.
The top performer for St. Anthony’s School was Weston Christianson who finished with a top 10 performance, placing 8th overall with a Midget Girls time of 9:15 in the 2 kilometre race. The top time for the Saints was Riley Visser finishing 19th out of 111 total runners with a Bantam Boys time of 9:01 in the 2 kilometre race.
The St. Anthony’s Jr. High Cross-Country Running team finished in 3rd place overall in the 2J category, accumulating a total of 19 points which was 3 spots better than last year.
Head Coach Gavin Makse was very proud of how the team has grown in both numbers and dedication for training. A number of athletes would run on their own time and were rewarded with personal bests throughout the season. Coach Makse would like to thank Veronique Ram for her assistance in training the team this year.
Preparations are already being made for next season to attend more meets prior to Zones.
