Two councillors acclaimed in Morrin byelection

Two councillors have been acclaimed in the Village of Morrin, filling seats that were left unclaimed following this fall’s municipal elections.
Following the general Municipal Election in Morrin on October 18, councillor-elect Lynn Helton resigned in an email, and councillor-elect Ken Balacko also resigned, citing health concerns.
These actions left only one councillor, M’liss Edwards, who was sworn in at the organizational meeting.
The Village opened nominations for a by-election, to be held on December 13.
Morrin CAO Annette Palchner tells the Mail two candidates have put their names in to run for council. Chris Hall and Lorraine McArthur have let their names stand. Because there are two candidates, there is no need for an election.
They will be sworn in at the next Morrin Council meeting.
