The new disc golf course at the Village of Carbon’s Lions Park was buzzing with activity as members of the local Drumheller and Area Disc Golf club participated in a few rounds on Saturday, May 15. Drumheller has two championship courses, at Midland and Wayne. Cameron White, left, and Megan McLauchlin, middle, owners and operators of Fire Coulee Discs, say Carbon is a great, family-friendly course for beginners and skilled players alike. The Carbon course is also the only local course which uses baskets rather than metal tonal poles as goals. They say they were only made aware of the course in Carbon after Councillor Renee O’Brien reached out to them to purchase discs. The sport was growing in popularity prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and there has been renewed interest due to the socially distanced nature of the game.
