Inmate has 60 days added to sentence for drug charge

An inmate a the Drumheller Institution has had 60 days added to his sentence after pleading guilty to possession of drugs.
Gatluak James appeared via video conferencing in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday, January 8. He pleaded guilty to possession of drugs.
The court heard that on October 1, 2020 a security intelligence officer was alerted that James was in an out of bounds area. He attempted to flee but was secured and subject to a search. On his person, officers found an SD card reader and seven folded flaps of paper, containing 2.36 grams of methamphetamine.
James is a serving prisoner and had no related drug charges. Judge Fraser accepted a joint submission from the crown and defence for a sentence of 60 days concurrent to the sentence he is currently serving.
