Stolen vehicle recovered, charges laid

Shortly after noon on February 22, 2019, Drumheller RCMP responded to a complaint in the Newcastle area regarding a sighting of a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Acme.

Dispatched members were able to locate the silver SUV and made attempts to stop it, the vehicle tried to flee from police but was successfully stopped. The lone male occupant was arrested without incident and a large quantity of stolen property was recovered from the SUV.
Darcy Lee Ewing (47) of Drumheller has been remanded into custody to appear in provincial court in Drumheller March 8, 2019. He is charged with possession of stolen property, flight from police and breach of a probation order.
The stolen property in the vehicle has been linked to additional criminal offences and further investigation is being completed.
