Drumheller RCMP with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team are currently following suspects related to reports of multiple stolen vehicles today, with officers at one point aided by a citizen in an airplane.

RCMP from Airdrie and Drumheller are currently tracking individuals thought to be related to cases of stolen vehicles which originated from at least one vehicle theft from a farm today. The RCMP tell the Mail as of 3 p.m. it’s believed they have at least one suspect in the Cambria area.

A civilian pilot in an airplane this morning happened to see the incident unfolding and RCMP members communicated with the pilot via phone, watching the suspected stolen vehicles from a safe distance, RCMP say.

The search moved in and out of Drumheller RCMP's jurisdiction, crossing over into the Bassano jurisdiction, before returning to Cambria, where police believed to have cornered a suspect.

A number of vehicles were potentially stolen and RCMP did not want to release vehicles descriptions as their investigation is still ongoing.
