CN promises action for unsightly rails

The rails in Drumheller will hopefully be buzzing soon, not with trains, but with the sound of weed wackers.

Last week, the Town of Drumheller sent letters to MP  Kevin Sorensen, MLA Rick Strankman, and the honorable Doug Griffiths. The intent of the letters was to bring awareness to the problem.

Late last week, the Town got some good news.

“It seems like it worked, we shook the right branches,” said Mayor Terry Yemen.

CAO Ray Romanetz was contacted by CN Rail who explained their willingness to solve the problem.

“They don’t have the manpower to take care of the weeds right now, so they said if we find someone to do the work, they’ll pay the bill,” said Yemen.

The Town is optimistic they can work closely with CN to address any future issues. However, for the time being Town administration is looking for a contractor to cut down the weeds from the western limits of Drumheller to East Coulee.
