Three Hills RCMP end standoff peacefully

Three Hills RCMP faced some tense moments on the morning of Thursday, June 28 when they were able to end a standoff peacefully.

Three Hills RCMP were dispatched to a threats complaint in Trochu.  Chad Alain Frere 38 years of Trochu was terminated from his job and made threats to kill staff members at his work site.

As a result of further investigation,  Frere refused to come out of his residence in Trochu and would not co-operate with police.

Three Hills RCMP requested the assistance of the Red Deer Emergency Response Team to assist in taking this male into custody.  After a five hour standoff the male was taken into custody without any injuries to anyone and charged with two counts of uttering death threats and one count of assault.

During this incident a family member breached the containment on scene and was also taken into custody and is facing multiple charges which will be laid in the near future.
