Rotary Club prepares for White Elephant Sale

The Drumheller Rotary Club is set for its annual White Elephant sale this coming weekend, and it is a great way for residents to get rid on some items that others could use, and help out the club in its numerous endeavours.

The Rotary Club brought back the long time fundraising institution a couple years back, and has reignited its previous great success.

The former Liquidation World at Greentree Mall is already filling up with great items donated by residents. On Saturday, April 28 the door will be thrown wide open for bargain hunters to explore and discover hidden treasures.

Debi Kennedy, chair of the Rotary Club White Elephant Sale said the funds from the sale will go to the Friends of St. Anthony’s School to support the creation of a community playground at the new school on North Dinosaur Trail.

“It’s something for the community, and that’s what we are all about,” said Kennedy, adding the funds will also support some of the Drumheller Rotary’s youth programs.

The Rotary Club also support many other youth focused activities in the community including making a substantial donation to the Badlands Community Facility, improvements to the swimming pool, the Rotary Splash Park and a number of youth exchanges, to name a few.

They also make it easier than ever to donate items to the annual White Elephant sale.

This week there will be Rotarians at the Greentree Mall in the afternoon and residents with items can bring them down to the sale.

They are also offering to pick items up from donors. To arrange a pick-up Kennedy says to call 403-823-7442 (Rod Dormer), 403-823-9111 (Dave Jorgensen) and 403-820-4023 (Doug Stanford) to arrange for a time for a pick up.

They note the Rotary is not able to receive mattresses, baby cribs, car seats, hide-a-beds, older style televisions or computers.

Kennedy says she is grateful for the support of Greentree Mall for donating the space for the sale.

The doors open on Saturday, April 28 at 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
