Second person charged with causing injury to animals

    A second person has been charged in the alleged case of animal neglect near East Coulee.
    On the docket for a first appearance on June 10 in provincial court in Drumheller was Lawrence James Bryden. He is charged with creating a common nuisance and causing damage or injury to animals. He also faces two charges under the Alberta Animal Protection Act.
    Bryden did not appear in court and a warrant was issued.
    John Barry Graham’s name was called in provincial court in Drumheller. He faces charges of causing damage or injury to animals and creating a common nuisance under the criminal code. He is also facing two charges under the Alberta Animal Protection Act.
    Graham did not appear, but an agent for his counsel did, and he is to return to court in Drumheller on July 8.
    Last week inSide Drumheller reported that animals seized could be returned to the Graham Ranching Company if certain conditions are met. About 350 animals were seized in April of this year.
