Who are you? Joel Martin

Name: Joel Martin.
Employer: Riverside Value Drug Mart.
Job title: Front Store Manager.
What do you like about your job? The Ainscoughs have been very generous towards my role in the store. I enjoy such freedoms as to explore my creativity and enforce common sense.
Dreams or goals: To be the best uncle I can be to my future niece or nephew. (due. Sept 21).
Hobbies and interests: I spend the majority of my free time watching movies or working out but if I could, I would spend my ideal day road-tripping with my girl.
How long have you been in Drumheller? Two and a half years.
What do you like best about Drumheller? The pace! After living in a touristic, very mainstream city like environment, I like the slower pace here, no hustle and bustle. 
If you could change one thing about Drumheller, what would it be? To see less empty store fronts, have more businesses open.
Where are you from?Hamilton, Ontario
If stranded on an island what tool would you need? We’re gonna need a bigger boat.
What’s in your iPod? Richie Kotzen, World War Z, episodes of Family Guy.
Favourite book: Everybody Poops by Taro Gomi. It pokes fun at itself without being absurd. It doesn’t examine the subject nor does it try to draw a reaction. Much like the title, it just is. As a companion book, I also have The Gas We Pass by Shinto Cho, much for the same reasons.
Favourite movie: Halloween
If you had a million dollars:We’re gonna need a bigger boat.
Who you like to have dinner with dead or alive? I wouldn’t enjoy sharing a meal with any dead people. A nice homecooked meal with all my extended family would be ideal.

Dreams or goal:Make “ECHOES...Spirit Theatre” a regular part of the tourism activities in town.

Hobbies and interest:Magic, hiking, all things unusual.

How long have you been in Drumheller? 17 years.

Where are you from?Grew up in Edmonton; moved to Calgary; then moved out here.

What do you like about your job?Large variety of people to meet from every walk of life, all with different stories.

If stranded on an island what tool would you need?Hunting knife.

What’s in your CD player?Parlourmuse - an obscure group that does thematic music.

Favourite book?50 Canadian Men.

Favourite movie? The Lord of the Rings.

If you had a million dollars?Build a new house with attached workshop.

Who would you like to have dinner with dead or alive?George Burns, my grandfather, my cousins in Ottawa.

Occupation: Horticulturist. I also volunteer as the chair of Communities in Bloom.

Age: 55.

How long have you lived in the area? Over 20 years. 

Where are you originally from? Queens, New York.

What do you like best about Drumheller? It is safe and friendly.

If you could change one thing about Drumheller what would it be? More community involvement.


What do you like about your job?It’s all about the plants.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Drumheller.

Have you ever made a life changing decision?Yes, to work with my hands instead of office work.

Your life’s best achievement? My son.

What are your strengths?I am good at getting the job done.

Any bad habits? Yes, all of them! 

What makes you happy? When a plan gets together.

Any weaknesses?I can’t say no.

 

If you were granted three wishes, what would they be? There would be no more prejudice, no one would be hungry and everyone had a job they loved.

If you chose one super power, which would it be?  I could split myself in two.

Three words that best describe you? Strong, happy and dependable.

If you could travel back in time and meet yourself as a 10 year old kid, what advice would you give yourself? Never lose your confidence.
