March 2, 1938 - February 19, 2010
It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful and surprising passing of Colleen on February 19, 2010, in Drumheller, AB. Colleen was born March 2, 1938, and grew up with her three sisters, Gwen, Betty and Vena (deceased) in New Westminster. She graduated from Queen Elizabeth High and married her high school sweetheart, Barrie Deakin just after graduation. They moved to Calgary, AB and had three children: Patricia (deceased), Todd and Kari. Sadly Barrie was killed at the age 35 in a car accident. Colleen then met Barry Lowe, (who also had two children, Vicki and Bonnie) through mutual friends. They soon fell in love and were married on October 5, 1973, and they have been in love ever since. Colleen and Barry moved from Calgary to Cochrane where they raised the family. Barry and Colleen owned Col-Bar Oilfield Construction and still managed to travel to many exciting places all over the world. After the kids grew up, they moved to Lantzville, BC where Colleen planted flowers, did crafts, golfed and enjoyed many dinners with friends and family, while Barry had Barry’s Grader Service and the Canadian Mist where they both spent many hours fishing. They spent almost every winter down South and made many friends throughout their travels. The last move was back to Alberta where Colleen and Barry bought a house along the Red Deer River in Drumheller. Colleen and Barry lived their lives together for 38 wonderful years. Colleen lived a full and happy life, she was the most compassionate person and had so much love in her heart – she cared about everyone. She will be sadly missed by all of us who loved her so dearly and called her Wife, Daughter – In- Law, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Auntie Coy, Cousin and Friend. A Celebration of Colleen’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from Courtney -Winters Funeral Chapel ,199 2nd Street West, Drumheller, Alberta. If you feel inclined Colleen would want any donations to be made in her name either to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Salvation Army. Forever Missed, Forever Loved, Forever in our Hearts. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Chapel in care of the arrangements. 403-823-2666.
