RAM RAJI LAKHAN (“Dorothy”)

“Nani”, Ram Raji Lakhan (“Dorothy”), passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Surrey, British Columbia, on November 19, 2011 at 95 years of age. At the top of our family tree, Nani departed this earth and into the Lord’s embrace to join her late husband Ram Chandar Lakhan, two late eldest daughters Bedmati (Beda) Prasad and Bhagwati (Barb) Tikaram, and late great grandson, Adrian Kumar. Nani spent the last 15 years of her life being lovingly cared for by her daughter Veena Prasad, son-in-law Mahendra “John” Prasad, youngest grandson Sunil Prasad and granddaughter Venita Prasad. Nani is survived by six remaining children, 31 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, and 24 great great grandchildren throughout Greater Vancouver, Calgary, Australia, Fiji Islands, and United States, including a granddaughter, Pauline Geeta Prasad Lal, and two great grandchildren, Jaiden Surita Lal and Ashton Sidney Lal, all in Drumheller, Alberta. Richard Peter Johnston of Drumheller, Alberta passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer on November 30, 2011. Richard is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lura Elaine Johnston; his children Robert Johnston (Mandy), Arlene Johnston, Donald Johnston, grandchildren: Ethan Scott, Dalen Scott, Anna Johnston, Mark Johnston, Jace Johnston, Parker Johnston and Lucas Mehus, brothers; Ronald Johnston (Jane), Lewis Johnston and sister Kathleen Hilborn (Rick) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter Harvey and Victoria May Johnston. Richard was born in Drumheller, and went to school in Orkney and Olds, AB. Richard lived a full and interesting life. Richard was a journeyman carpenter and a farmer. Richard had many hobbies, too numerous to list. He belonged to Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #22, N.F.A., Canadian Shooting Sports Association, SS1-Scuba Divers and Drumheller Shooters Association. Richard is loved and greatly missed by all his family and friends. Funeral Service were held at 2:00 P.M. , December 6, 2011 at Courtney-Winters Funeral Home, 199 - 2nd Street West, with Lt. Matt Sheils officiating. A private family interment followed in the Drumheller Municipal Cemetery. Audrey Irene Chiarieri of Drumheller beloved wife of the late Geno Vinchenzo Anthony Chiarieri, passed away peacefully, on December 2, 2011 in the Drumheller Health Centre at the age of 81 years .Audrey is survived by her only daughter Lynn Chiarieri of Edmonton, Alberta. Audrey was born in Drumheller, Alberta to parents Harvey and Agnes Mancell. Audrey attended the Nacmine and Drumheller schools. Audrey then went on to work at Anderson Drugs where she worked for many years, before having her daughter Lynn. Later on, Audrey went to work at Roman’s Restaurant where she worked for many years to come. Audrey will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Friday, December 9, 2011, at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Drumheller, Alberta, with Father Mario Basque officiating. There will be refreshments after the service at St. Anthony’s Hall. Courtney-Winters Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements (403 823 2666).
