June 19, 1933 - September 16, 2023

Doreen Violet Burchnell passed away on September 16, 2023 at the Drumheller Health Centre (Continuing Care Facility) after a lengthy illness at the age of 90 years.
Vi was born June 19, 1933 and was raised in Drumheller, receiving her schooling in the valley. Vi moved out on her own by her late teen years and did various jobs for employment. In that time, her daughter Shannon was born. In the 60’s, Vi met her husband Robert Ellsworth Burchnell, a military man and had Shean and Susan Burchnell in Calgary, Alberta. Vi was widowed in 1977. She remained in Calgary until 2015 when she moved back to the valley. Vi spent her remaining years in the Drumheller Health Centre.
Vi was predeceased by her husband Robert, daughter Shannon, grandson Dillan and numerous other family members.
Vi leaves to mourn daughter Susan Burchnell; son Shean (Heather) Burchnell; grandchildren Travis, Justin, Angelina, Timothy, Alyssa, Dustin Burchnell, John and Jethro McMackin; great-grandchildren Keith, Breona, Alanah, Tyler, nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Memorial Service will be held for Vi on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at the Church of the Nazarene, Drumheller, AB with Pastor Carlos Calderon officiating. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Drumheller Community Cancer Centre, 351 9 St. NW, Drumheller, AB T0J 0Y1. Edward C. Hermanson was born on November 28, 1966 in Drumheller, AB, and died on May 9, 2023 in Victoria, BC.
He is survived by his son Curtis, daughter Harlequine, several grandkids, sisters Winda Peevey, Tina Hermanson, brother Will Hermanson, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his parents, William and Esther Hermanson.
Ed worked at Budget Rental in Edmonton for several years before recently joining the team at Save on Foods in Victoria. Ed was a jokester pulling pranks and making people laugh, especially his coworkers, friends and family. He was very mechanically inclined, and there wasn’t much he couldn’t take apart, fix and put back together. Ed loved stock-car racing, collecting Hot Wheels cars, and building model cars. He loved fishing and spending time outdoors.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate Ed’s life.
“Caught a train to God’s country to go fishing with Mom and Dad.”

It is with profound sadness that the family of Steven Kevin Briggs announce his passing on September 11, 2023 at the age of 62, after a battle with Cancer. He was predeceased by his father Fred. He is survived by his mother Barbara, siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Steve was born and raised in Keighley, Yorkshire, England. After graduating from school Steve earned his Journeyman Chef certification with the British Army Catering Core. He had a lifelong passion for cooking which took him to many places throughout Europe and Alberta. He began a career as a Correctional Officer later in life working at the Drumheller Institution. He was a vocal member of the local union advocating for his fellow officers for many years before his retirement in 2020.
Steve was a passionate storyteller, and his many stories will be missed greatly.
An informal, come and go, Celebration of Life will be held starting at 1 pm, Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Nacmine Community Hall.
Come share some tea, biscuits and stories.
