Our mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully at the Hanna Long-Term Care after a long struggle following her stroke in the spring. She was born in Radway Hospital, the youngest of 7; grew up on the farm near Abee, moved to Edmonton - starting her family, and came to Drumheller in 1983, where she had lived ever since.  Sharon was predeceased by her parents - Elmer and Esther Ellefson, and survived by her children - Chuck (Candace) Babuik of Big Valley, Cory Babuik of Drumheller, and Crystal Babuik of Drumheller; grandchildren - Ethan, Riley, Sydney, Lily, and Archer; siblings - Arlene (Nick) Kapach of Abee, Jim (Donna) Ellefson of Thorchild, Barb Andruchow of Edmonton, Norm (Terri) Ellefson of Lake Isle, Gord Ellefson of Edmonton, and Don Ellefson of Edmonton and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of the Drumheller Acute Care. Also thanks to Hanna Funeral Chapel and Westlock Funeral Home for helping us lay Mom to rest. Funeral Service was at 2 pm on Friday September 9, 2011 at the Abee Community Hall, interment was at Radway Community Cemetery. Donations can be made in Sharon’s name to the Salvation Army. Thomas Armstrong, beloved husband of Kate Armstrong of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 5, 2011 at the age of 89 years. Tom was born in Carbon, Alberta and raised on a farm west of Drumheller on The Pope Lease. Tom served in World War II and upon his return he was stationed out of Wainwright, Alberta, where he met his wife Kate. They then returned to The Pope Lease to farm and raise their family. Along with farming, he led a very busy life running the P & H Elevator, driving school bus and working for Fountain Tire (formally Triad Tire) for many years in Drumheller. Tom enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family. Although he was living in the city, nothing made him happier than travelling back to his hometown of Drumheller to visit friends and family. Along with his loving wife of sixty-five years, Thomas is survived by their three sons and three daughters, Helen (Ernie) Brunette, Mona (Randy) Ivan, Donald (Joan) Armstrong, Daniel (Rose) Armstrong, Barb (Jerry) Curran and Thomas (Brenda) Armstrong; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Isa Grenier and Ruby Moskie; and his sister-in-law Fran Hohlbein. Thomas was predeceased by two sisters, Megg Gibson and Vi Williams; his niece Heather Lapham; and two great-grandchildren, Keoma Dawn Burt and Seth Thomas Robinson and son-in-law Peter Luckiw. At Tom’s request, there will be no funeral service. A Remembrance will be held at The Pope Lease Pines Bed and Breakfast in Carbon, AB on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. CHENEY, Wilma Victoria Ede
February 27, 1928 - August 29, 2011


Wilma was born February 27, 1928 in Hanna, Alberta to parents William and Victoria Waring. Wilma’s natural mother died the same year and she was raised by her step mother Jeanie. Wilma lived in India for five years, doing missionary work with the Salvation Army. In 1962 Wilma married Ralph Cheney and they had two children, Edward and Ralph. Wilma is survived by her loving husband Ralph, her two children: Edward and Ralph; four grandchildren along with her sister; Orient (Ora) Pickering, nephew Bill (Chris) Pickering and their son Willie. Wilma loved gardening, and volunteering for many different things, as well as attending church and being with her family and friends. Wilma was awarded fifty years of soldier ship with the Salvation Army in 1993. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Salvation Army Church in Drumheller, Alberta 242-1st Street West.
