LAUGHLIN, Maxine Margaret

LAUGHLIN, Maxine Margaret
January 31, 1940 - September 25, 2011

Mrs. Maxine Laughlin, beloved wife of Ron Laughlin, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on September 25, 2011, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. In addition to her loving husband Ron, Maxine is survived by 3 daughters: Kari-Lynn (Ed), Krista (Chris) and Laura (Ken), a brother, Dale Roth and mother in law, Lillian Loughlin.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Victoria, Anya, Zachary, Jack, Aubrey, Sophia, Amanda, Christopher and April.  Maxine was born in Lacombe, Alberta, to George and Hazel Roth, raised on a dairy farm west of Red Deer and in her early adult years employed by AGT as a Telephone Operator. In 1964 she married Ron Laughlin and thoroughly enjoyed her role as a positive and supportive wife and mother. Maxine would describe it as a gypsy lifestyle as Ron’s teaching duties took them to Delia, Netherlands, Germany, Fort McMurray and Ponoka through the years of 1964 to 1984. In 1980, Maxine found herself in the “Oil Patch” environment, travelling to destinations in Canada and the U.S. utilizing her secretarial skills to create safety manuals for the drilling industry. Maxine and Ron moved to Calgary in 1984 and then to Turner Valley, AB. In the year 2000, Maxine made the smooth transition to fulltime RVing as she and Ron began their retirement by wintering in Yuma, AZ and Parksville, BC on Vancouver Island.  Maxine enjoyed gardening and was happiest in the kitchen when cooking and canning. At Maxine’s request there will be no funeral service.  A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.    39p
